Recommend me a LASIK surgeon or two?

Back when I was in high school, I had killer vision. But then my eyes got worse, and now I wear glasses. In a way, I am okay with wearing glasses. But in other ways I just wish I didn't have this thing (these things?) on my face. I do active sports like surfing, tennis, and pinball, and glasses/bad vision get in the way of all these things. I have astigmatism, and really sensitive eyes (and have had some accidents in the past, of the oops-I-scratched-my-eyeball variety). My experiences with contacts have been crappy; they rotate while on my eyes and it makes my vision phase between good/bad. Whenever I take off my glasses (like right before going to bed) I get all anxious, because I'm reminded that my body is deteriorating, and also that if the shit went down and I was trudging through post-apocalyptica and my glasses broke, I'd be screwed!

Fortunately, the future is now, and lasers are here and they're here to stay. I sorta want them to fix my eyes. I have vision insurance, but I doubt it covers LASIK. Anyway! I'm wondering which local LASIK surgeons you recommend. Thanks.

I know exactly what you mean. That is why I got a spare pair. How often do you break your glasses anyways? I scratched one of the lens once, (back when I used plastic lenses,) and now I think I've had the same pair for 8 years, so I figure I'll die of something else, (cannibals possible, or more likely an infection,) way before I run out of usable glasses.

Your insurance probably won't cover it (stupid insurance sees the surgery as purely aesthetic), but the money i spent on Lasik about 6 years ago was SO worth it. Like you, I was always feeling like glasses got in the way of my physical pursuits, so I didn't want to have to wear them anymore.

Bottom Line: Eye Health NW, Dr. Kerry Hagen. The surgery was not painful, took about 15 minutes, and the Dr. and staff were super great.

    Good luck.

I had my LASIK done at Pacific Cataract and Laser Institute in Tualatin. They were great, can't say enough positive things about them.

You may want Lasik but Lasik may not want you if.... your corneas are too thin, your pupils too wide, your eyes too dry.

Before you go to a Lasik place, go to an independent eye doctor-one who evaluates if you'd be a good candidate for Laser vision correction.

If you're not eligible, don't despair. There is always Ortho-k, which is what I do.
